Larry Gregory started the day with Panel Judges briefing. We were fortunate to have following panel judges, who shared their deep insight with startups:

Larry Gregory, presented on Microsoft’s Vision and resources for BizSpark Startups. He answered several questions and received several suggestions.

 

In afternoon, we completed dry-run pitch round with each team. Each team is busy finishing up their solution demo and presentation for panel judges tomorrow.

The Microsoft BizSpark Incubation Week for Windows Azure will be held at Microsoft Technology Center, Atlanta, GA from Mon 11/09/2009 to Fri 11/13/2009. This event consists of ½ day of training, 3 ½ days of active prototype/development time, and a final day for packaging/finishing and reporting out to a panel of judges for various prizes.

 

This event is a no-fee event (plan your own travel expenses) and each team can bring 3 participants (1 business and 1-2 technical). We started the day with Panel Judges briefing. We were lucky to have a very strong panel including following:

Every team worked very hard the whole week and did very best to impress the judges. We saw very impressive presentations and solution demos utilizing new and unique features of Windows7, from following startup teams:

 

1.   Freeltor.com : Developed an application to provide Artificial Intelligence to Real Estate agents for getting tasks done quickly and cost effectively via virtual assistants across the world.

2.   GMU-Student Team : Created a Personal Health Record application for individuals who concern the privacy of their medical data and want to actively participate in their own care.

3.   Intertouch : Developed a next-generation, Multi-Touch signage platform, which puts the power of multi-touch, geospatial mapping, and advanced multi-media display frameworks in the hands of the out-of-home, hospitality, and other markets for way-finding, virtual concierge, and interactive advertising.

4.   Take Comics : Developed an immersive online marketplace (iTunes for Comics) for digital comics, pixel perfect for any device, and merged social networking interface to promote and sell digital comics and merchandise, utilizing multi-touch capabilities of Windows7.

5.   Vidizmo : Developed SCORM-compliant Interactive Video based learning solution that mashes up various content and applies search to the contents of the video and associated media assets. Very powerful and unique approach.

6.   Xe-Xi : Developed an online Intelligent Advertising Platform for Retailers (MULTIFUNCTIONAL Ad'Modules®), which merges geo-social environment.

Offshore team (Spadeworx) is coming on speed to expedite solution development. Some of the UI design work they did is amazing. I got several positive notes from many teams. Now the focus is shifting from solution development to business presentation.

 

Today our guest speaker, Larry Gregory, presented on Microsoft’s Vision for Startups ecosystem, including BizSpark programs and resources available. Later afternoon, Larry Gregory and Dave Drach helped each team in dry-run and giving feedback to improve their pitch for panel presentation.

 

We recorded a short video interview with each team. Watch for the updates as we edit and publish these interviews.

 

Tonight Dave Drach hosted a fine dinner at Italian Restaurant, Paolos. It was our 1st meal outside the facility in last 4 days.
