Im not sure if you all have seen this site, but Jonathan Maltz has a great list of Guest O/S's and the experiences under Virtual PC.

RedHat or most Linux dist under VPC 2004

Make sure you use 16 bit video, or the default X configuration won't run under VPC.

Also, for those who have asked about Virtual PC, info can be found @ http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/virtualpc

I was using VMware since it's inception, but recently switched to VPC, Both products offer simular capabilities.

Something else of interest may be the new Virtual Server, a real solid build was just released (321), follow the links from here and join the beta @ http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/evaluation/trial/virtualserver.mspx and give it a try.

Lindows 4.5 dies on my Laptop during setup

Weird during the install, the setup gets to the end of the disk prep/formatting, and the entire machine just powers down. No error. Im off to lindows.com to work out what's going on

booting off the “bootable CD“ demo version works fine, must be part of the detection stage

laptop's a evo n610c

-- Update, worked it out, disable the Intel SpeedStep settings in the Bios for the CPU, hum must be a timing issue..

installing RedHat 9.0

So, it's time to move RedHat from my VMware to our new VPC solution.. Im pulling from the ISO's, on the same drive, estimated duration is 3 hours and 06 minutes.. It's the full RPM all products, around 4gb.
