Developers are Super-hero

Bill Gates is coming to India for the launch of Visual Studio 2005, SQL Server 2005 and Biztalk. To celebrate this the rock band Parikrama has come out with a song about us (developers). Download the mp3 and lyrics from the Microsoft India site.

I had never heard the band before but the song is real good. If you are not from India you should listen to it, as you'd get to hear some rock-band from here....

The song is nice but it sounds too much american for me. (I am French). I can't hear anything indian in it. Where is the indian culture?

Unfortunately there is nothing Indian in it :(

Its totally an american rip-off. Like many of the developing countries we are also facing the problem of people forgetting there own roots and blindly copying the so called western culture. Funnily though people in the west are getting interested in our ancient culture. Its amazing to note that very few people out here actually use meditation and Yoga as healing mechanisms even though lots of people in the west are using it.

Lets just hope that things will change for the better in the future....

I'm an American, and have worked in various countries such as France, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Germany, etc., and I thought the same thing. People there kept trying to take me to "American" restaurants, and I wouldn't let them.

A core value of a culture is it's cuisine, and I *hate* it when it's compromised to fit American palates. I was at the huge Virgin Record superstore in Paris in 1998, looking for native French rock and house music, and the sales people couldn't find me anything. It wasn't as hard as in Germany, but it was still not simple.

There's nothing wrong with doing what seems better to you, but different isn't always better. Don't fault America and it's people for this; as some anti-drug ads said, "Just say no.".
