Are you serious John?
The Last Microsoft Ad Strategy: The Disco Mom by John C. Dvorak
Are you serious John; is that the best argument for why Microsoft's ad campaign won't be successful? Because you think they are "dumb" and because your voyeuristic tendencies cause you to focus more on your libido than on a coherent thought? If you are looking for cute girls I could suggest a number of web sites that would do a better job then a Microsoft advertisement but I have a feeling you already spend many a lonely night at these sites.
Considering how lightly I blog you have to write a pretty poor article to get my attention. I'm wondering why you couldn't pull your self away from the girl in a bikini long enough to open up a marketing 101 text book and pretend to make a principled argument based on an educated analysis. If you did you might have been able to mutter some nonsense about the ad campaign targeting the wrong market segment or a poor message strategy. Who knows you might have even suggested additional market research, or better distribution planning but instead your best critical thinking focused on the fact that only few hundred "real people" will be used to identify with the consumer. Your right John, maybe if we used a few million of our customers that would be a better idea.
I have to say you've managed to turn PC Magazine into the Enquirer of the Tech Industry. Keep up the good work.
