Calling all Access user groups

Published 10 July 08 09:41 PM

I’m looking to put together a page listing information about active Access user groups. Can you help?

One of the things I love about working on Access is the community. It is chuck full with people who are passionate about the product and the changes it enables in everything from business efficiency to tracking hobbies. It is always fun to watch people who enjoy the product get together and share learns in local user groups.

Here is what I need from you… If you are involved in a Access user group, send us an email with the following information:

User Group Name
Country
Region/State
City
URL
Meeting dates and times
How to get more information

Hopefully, we can provide a resource to help connect people with local efforts.

Clint, the unofficial Access User Group list is at http://www.granite.ab.ca/access/usergroups.htm.

Regretfully some groups have disbanded and others have seen their memberships drop substantially.  I presume this is because it's so much easier to find assistance these days on the Internet.

It's also because developers formed the core of the user groups. And Access as a dev tool is very stagnant (ten years of drift). There were three Access user groups within striking distance of where I live ten years ago. Now there is one and it is a *very* feeble thing compared to what it was. Internet is a factor for sure. But most of us have the same peeves about Access as a dev tool that we had a decade ago.

There are plenty of .net user group attendees...all devs...all energized. You couldn't possibly find a set like that with Access today. Without genuine support for the developer side from the mothership, there isn't a lot of wind in the sails for Access devs...though the starting point is so good for some kinds of development that it still works for many of us.
