i see that it says Access Runtime is now available, that guide me to a question :-)

Is this a new release of the runtime? or is like an SP1 of the runtime?

Do we need to install to update the runtime our clients have, or this will install like a complete verssion without the initial runtime?

Will this support the next office service packs, when new service packs become available will they update the access runtime or we will need to manually update our clients?

I need to know a litle bit more of this important update for us.

I have just tried it:

Appearence is better but you need to uninstall the previous runtime before installing the new one.

An important question that I cannot find the answer to in any of the documentation of the runtime or this update.

Will the runtime ever be aligned with access/office such that it receives updates anytime regular Access 2007 would receive updates via AutomaticUpdates/MicrosoftUpdates/SUS/etc?

If the answer to the above is no, will updates to the runtime be distributed automatically at all via MU/WU/SUS/etc?

Still does not "Save as" PDF if the complete office version is not installed...same dialog (and crash) as before. Have I done something incorrectly? I removed the previous version of AccessRuntime and installed version 2.

Further to my previous post; I misspoke too soon! The "Save as" PDF hasn't worked for so long that I forgot (maybe never knew??) that the "SaveAsPDFandXPS.exe" (and variants) had to be installed on the system. Thanks, it does function as advertised.

One question though. On machines with access runtime there is no option to change the color of interface (Blue, Silver, Black). Is there any kind of possible workaround?

There is something that is bothering my head for some time, I saw that excel has a new and improved conditional formatting that supports additional icons and stuff like that, and has more than 3 rules like the old excel.

What we have is the old excel feature, the access developers have been fighting with that problem since version one of access.

I think most access developers fight with that problem and have to use other 3rd party controls like grid and stuff like that.

Now, if excel have it, why can we the access community.

My friends . . .

Please make that feature available to us the access community, and we will live you guys more than ever.

Pile of thanks to all the MS guys who made this happen. This is probably the most important event so far this year.

Edwin's points a good one btw. The lack of elaborate conditional formatting (or simple things like 'highlight current row'), and the inability to have much control over continuous forms, mean we're often reaching for grids...

So, since the runtime requires Removal of the previous one vs it auto-upgrading, how can we initiate a removal. I do not want to have all of my users go in and have to use Control Panel To remove the previous version. This should have been either a patch, or as a full-install to automatically remove previous version.

Is there a command line option to have it remove the previous version so we can automate the installation of the new version.

come on guys, you work so hard finally fixing runtime and then you make it hard for users to install. Most of my users do not know how to even get to the control panel.

Viastar, thank you for the link to the KB article, but the link doesn't asnwer the question. Im very well aware of the link.

The issue is. Microsoft issued a Hotfix named: office2007sp1-kb936982-fullfile-en-us.exe and this hotfix if applied corrects a known bug whereby access goes into repeated loops when drawing the display.

It was communicated by Microsoft, that applying the above referenced file will correct the problem, however future service packs will overwrite the hotfix and thus the problem will return.

my question is related to whether or no the SP1 runtime includes or excludes the hotfix described above. If it includes it, then it will not effect anything. If it excludes it, then we have to apply not only the SP1 runtime, but ALSO the hotfix AGAIN.

So again, thank you for the link, but that does not answer my question originally. asked about whether the SP1 Hotfix includes the update from KB946205 or maybe more specifically, the update that was part of office2007sp1-kb936982-fullfile-en-us.exe

I can't use Access 2007 for my customers (full or runtime version). Access with SP1 has one big problem (like before SP1) crashing after use righ click - permanently! Can you fix this essential problem? Thank's and sorry for my horrible English.

I haven't seen the issue you are describing in SP2. I don't see your crash on my machine and it hasn't turned up as a top issue in our crash reports. I suggest that you work with our support team to narrow down the issue and get us an in-house repro. There shouldn't be a charge for support if it turns out to be a MS bug.

I have this problem under vista and under win XP SP2. When you put in google "access 2007 crash after use right click" you can see - this is not only my problem. Here is too.

I can send my aplication, where is this problem - to analysis. Under access 2003 is all ok.

I think you will find a link to a fix for right click crashes. Try installing SP1 and see if that doesn't fix your issue.

I have SP1 install and i have runtime 2007 SP1 on my virtual PC install. But my problem still continue. See - Salom said on April 3, 2008 9:20 AM: It is same like before SP1. :-(

i have adopted the report view for my apps, because it allows me to identify one record at runtime among other bennefits, and that is great for analisys, however if i use report view i loose the zoom, to 150, to 100, to 75, to 50 . . .

No problem, how do i change from report view to print preview at runtime, when users are using the runtime.

what is the command to do that?

and i think you need to verify something, when i have very complex reports, with some subreports on it, and we click find (ctrl+f) in the report access just crash.

can you please check that for me, and tell me any ideas or workarrounds.
