the million dollar question
Paul Wilson has asked me what seems to be by far the most common question about ObjectSpaces: “Will it support other databases besides Sql Server... i.e Oracle, Access, etc?”
For V1 of ObjectSpaces, which will ship as part of the Whidbey release of Visual Studio, only Sql Server 2000 and Yukon will be supported. However, that said, we have designed an underlying architecture that could be extended to other datasources, even non-relational datasources. At this time there are no plans to do so, but it is a very interesting topic being discussed by a number of people inside Microsoft. Of course, once anything becomes official - I will definitely blog about it.
