1984

Just picked up Van Halen's 1984 album off iTunes on what is roughly the 20th anniversary of the original release.  Actually, this is the second time I have bought the album, but I lost the cassette tape years ago.

For those of you lacking in-depth knowledge of 80's music, this was the album which made the keyboard player an accepted member of the metal band. (Note - I am using “metal bands” in context of the early 80's).

I am sure that the “alternative crew/ Pearl Jam apologists” out there would dismiss this album as fluff, but as a friend of mine from graduate school once noted, grunge music would have never existed if it weren't for albums like that.

Well 1984 is a wicked album and so-called grunge (soundgarden) is influenced heavily from the 60s and 70s bands, expecially sabbath. and grunge is a media hyped term anyways.

Van Halen rocks! The dutch band that won't perform in Holland any more because of a lack of visitors to their concerts! Sucks!
