Acropolis August CTP (VS 2008 Beta2 Refresh) Release available now

This release is mainly an update so that our customers can continue to evaluate “Acropolis” with the latest VS 2008 Beta. In addition to VS 2008 Beta2 support, we have also added one small feature named “FloatingLayoutPane”. We have gotten feedback from our customers and in our forum that basic functionality like showing a floating window is too hard in the July CTP. Please let us know what you think.

 

Please note, the Acropolis August CTP depends on VS 2008 Beta2, it will not work with VS 2008 Beta1.

Perfect news since I plan to play around with "Acropolis" in my summer project (holidays) and I was afraid that the Beta2 version will not came out before I leave.

This also requires Orcas Beta 1.  Big disappointment.

It will not install on Orcas Beta 2.  Not long ago a Microsoft person on one of the forums had said that it would.

Acropolis is fantastic stuff -- we're just about to start a product development phase and we've shifted it to use Acropolis entirely (it was CAB) given our testing of all the samples and some of our own prototyping.  

Based on what I understand of your timing, your RTM will precede ours (we hope -- can't release on beta platform!).

Great work to all of you -- this will be a real milestone in the evolution of .Net development.... D

Hello Dante,

"Acropolis" is a technology preview and may not be shipped in its current form. Please do not develop a real product on it just yet. We do encourage you to review the technology and give us feedback, but it is no where near ready to build real products on.

What's the difference between orcas beta 1, orcas beta 2 and vs2008 express beta 2?

I have vs2008 express beta 2 installed but the acropolis installer requests orcas beta 1 specificly...

Excelent! I'm just about to start the development phase of my thesis with .NET 3.5 and I think that its a perfect opportunity to test Acropolis. Excelent work!

We are currently to do the re-engineering work on our current product.

May I when is exact date to release the Acropolis Beta or version that we can use it to develop the real product.
