Mmmm... tastes like checkin

I have a few further questions about your Team System usage for those of you playing around with the December CTP:

 1. How often do you check in changes?
 2. How many files are in each checkin on average? Did you import a large source tree when you started playing with the system?
 3. Suppose you have multiple unrelated changes you want to submit at the same time. Are you more likely to submit them all in one checkin, or would you checkin each group of files separately one after the other?
 4. How many files do you have checked out, on average?
 5. Before checking in changes, do you perform any tests? (For example, build the product, get a code review, have someone else build with your changes, run unit tests, etc.)
 6. How often do you examine past changesets? When you do, what are you looking for?
 7. How often do you check out a file and later undo rather than check in?
 8. Do you use checkin notes? If so, do you have any required notes?
 9. How often do you associate a checkin with a work item?
 10. Will you experience physical pain if we call it "checkin"?
 11. Do you have any other comments on the checkin process?

Now that you've had a bit of time to play around with Beta 2, I'm curious what people think of the mapping...

Hi

We can able to connect the Team Foundation Server located at our US office and We are experiencing connection problems between our US office and our Indian office for Source Control. We could not able to "Check In" or "Check Out" our files from India as the option for "Get Latest" and other options on tools menu were disabled. We verified that Tools-->Options-->Source Control was set to Visual Studion Team Foundation Server.

But still we are facing same problem and apart from this we are also facing following problems.

1. when we refresh the team project we get an error message stating "You are not a valid account. Please contact the team system administrator".

2. Documents and reports show up OK but clicking on "All Build Types" we get an error message stating "Failed to retreive data from the server. Please verify that the Team Foundation Server is running & try again."

3. If we double click on "Version Control" I get the hour glass but no display.

4. No work items were shown in the team explorer.

5. If we double click Work Items we get the error: "Error You are not a valid account. Please contact the team system
administrator".

Please kindly do the needful in order to solve this problem

Thanks
Madhav.

Hi Madhav,

When Get Latest is greyed out, that usually means that you local workspace doesn't actually have any working folder mappings. From the File menu, go to Source Control-> Workspaces... and then choose a workspace. You need to add a mapping for a server folder to a local folder. Hopefully this will fix that.

I'm not sure about the rest- you may wish to post to the VSTS Forums for more information.

Hope this helps!
