Team Project Junction, what's your function?

I've seen a number of posts in the forums recently asking about Team Projects, particularly backing up and restoring just one project out of several, or just, say, the Version Control information for a project.

Unfortunately, this is not possible in the current version. You can back up and restore the entire database, but there is no way to back up just one project or portion thereof. We've heard this issue from a number of sources, and there's certainly been conversation about trying to help out here, though I don't know if any specifics have been unequivocally defined as of yet.

Some folks have asked, "Can't I just hack around with the SQL tables and patch things up myself?" While this is theoretically possible, it is also extremely dangerous. The chance of unconditional success is somewhere between the probability that I'll win the lottery and the probability that I'll send you all $100 when I do. Add to that calculation the fact that I've never actually purchased a lottery ticket and we're looking at pretty slim odds here.

So basically, while we consider this for future versions, please please please please PLEASE do not attempt to hack around this yourself by one backing up one of the databases or directly modifying the tables. At best, you'll find out that customer support no longer can help you troubleshoot issues with the install since we don't support direct SQL modification to our tables. At worst, your databases will need to be completely overwritten from a backup copy and any changes since then will have been lost.

Okay- enough doomsaying. Next time, I promise to talk about stuff you can do. Say, "Fun with Active Directory Forests" or something. Any requests? And no, I don't do Freebird.
