Entity Framework Orcas Beta 1 - EDM Wizard Fixed

Published 26 April 07 04:33 PM | dpblogs

Late last week, after bits had been finalized, we found a bug in the ADO.NET Entity Data Model Wizard that shipped with Visual Studio “Orcas” beta 1. The problem has now been corrected.

Please download and install the patch available at: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=f69e9eb8-0ebd-4fba-a4cc-2050297ba75b&displaylang=en to fix the problem.

Thank you,

Hi Ajay -

Try refreshing the page.  If it still doesn't work, try again in 30 minutes.   I suspect that the update is propogating through the system.

Thanks,

Seems to work if you copy and paste the url, but not when you click on it. (And I'm pretty sure the href is the same...but whatever...)

Nice fix! The namespace for the schema it generates is an interesting one though.

Can't download Beta 1 from http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/vstudio/aa700831.aspx, and can't download the fix neither.

Orcas is bringing two similar but different LINQed ORM approaches: LINQ to SQL and Entity Framework/LINQ

It appears as though I am not the only one with this issue...

"I attempted to install the fix and am still not getting the EDM designer when I double-click the .csdl I created. I simply get the xml."

I tried to apply the patch to both a DVD install, and VM install, and am getting the same problem in both scenarios.

Since other users report having success with this patch, I have to assume there might be some other issue that I am experiencing.

Any idea's would be great as I am primarily interested in using beta 1 to evaluate the entity framework & edm tools.

Thank You
