Managing your Azure Storage (a micro ISV product)

Cloud Storage Studio is a Windows (WPF) based application to manage your data stored in Azure Storage. You can manage your tables, queues & containers data in Azure storage. Following are the high level features available in the current release:

- Tables/entities management

- Queues/messages management

- Containers/blobs management [In this version you can create/update/delete containers however you can only view blobs].

- Multiple accounts management i.e. you can connect to multiple storage accounts simultaneously. The application also has an “Auto Connect” feature so that next time when the application launches, it will try and automatically connect to the accounts you have specified.

- Some basic configuration settings for tables (like how many tables to retrieve from the service per request etc.), queues & containers.

Complete Blob support (including upload/download/delete/copy/move/rename) will be provided in the next release.

This event consists of ½ day of training, 3 ½ days of active prototype/development time, and a final day for packaging/finishing and reporting out to a panel of judges for various prizes.

This event is a no-fee event (plan your own travel expenses) and each team can bring 3 participants (1 business and 1-2 technical). To nominate your team, please submit the following details to Sanjay Jain or Ashish Jaiman (preferably via your BizSaprk Sponsor). Computing is about leveraging ‘computers’ and to make us more efficient and agile so we can be more effective and productive in our lives. Social computing takes the same concepts and brings architecture of participation and community to make our lives better. We can collaborate better, we can track better and certainly improve our experiences and skills on how and what we do. Community come together and creates markets which were nonexistent, new business models are evolving and the way business is done is changing as well. The innovations happen from bottom up rather than top down via participation and collaboration.

Having said that the phenomena are still used mostly in consumer scenarios, enterprises are still way behind to take advantage of the participative and collaborative nature of social computing. There is the opportunity to make the enterprise more agile and effective by encouraging social behaviors via web amongst employees and customers.

Social computing is delivering rich experiences via software + services which encourages participation and collaboration to create better life for all.

Microsoft Web Technologies: What’s the Latest?

In this session, we will share with you the latest of Silverlight 2.0 and Expression 2.0 and Microsoft web technology roadmap. We will talk about the new features, the developer and designer productivity synergies and workflows. We will also talk about how Microsoft Silverlight compares with competing technologies.

Designing a Rich Interactive Silverlight Application with Expression

First impressions can make or kill any relationship, and nowhere is this more true than in software. In this session we will show how to use the “Look First” design pattern together with the Expression suite to develop a rich and engaging interactive Silverlight media player. Using the Expression suite we will show how to skin controls and design animations to best meet the user experience, and optimize the designer developer workflow.

Building a Rich Interactive Application with Silverlight and WCF

Now that the user interface has been created, the user experience fleshed out, it's time to transition from design to development and wire up logic and services. We'll provide the logic that makes the application tick, and the services that connect it to the larger infrastructure. We'll discuss the communications options available in Silverlight and delve into WCF service support, building out the application along the way.

Panel Discussion

At the panel discussion, you will be given a unique opportunity to ask questions and share comments on questions that have been raised by other attendees. The panel consists of speakers from the event and optionally guest speaker(s).

Pete Brown is Architect, Project Manager and Silverlight SME for Applied Information Sciences, and a Silverlight/WPF Microsoft MVP. An avid early adopter, Pete was responsible for the first Silverlight managed code application ever to go into production. Software + Service

Live Mesh is an implementation of Microsoft’s Software+ Services strategy.

Software+Service mean that you can leverage the new world of cloud computing and compliment your application software that runs on PC or any device to provide a better solution, rich experience to your users.

There are various reasons for this to be the right approach then SaaS or software as a Service model.

A) The browser is still unable to provide rich user experiences, so consuming your services using browser has feature limitations, if you blend client software to provide the richness in experience and leverage internet to deliver those experiences and data then it is best of both worlds.

B) The offline story, S+S allows you to work offline with your data and then automatically synchronizes it on the cloud, which is the right solution for many road warriors and also for folks who work from home and not have the same kind of bandwidth and don’t/can’t be always connected.

C) Control of data, privacy if you move every piece of your data on the cloud then you lose control. With S+S you can decide what you want to move to the cloud and what you want locally.

D) The fluid nature of internet, no or minimal cost of switching, so for vendors making software to compliment their services makes the solution more sticky and provide the experiences, value add in ways that is not possible on cloud.

E) For Vendors it opens up new opportunities to monetize their solutions with different business models, Ad, transaction, subscription.
