See Windows Vista ...
Yes, Windows Vista Beta has been made available to us for test purposes. Vista Beta 2 is thus downloadable from here for our French Speaking colleagues and there for our Dutch speaking ones.
Actually, I've installed it on my production machine and, at first, this is ... interesting! Some things are more natural, some others are more obscure! It requires say a little couple of hours to getting used to it! After a few days and a couple of weeks time, I must say that my work with this new OS simply is more intuitive! Oh yes, it's still a BETA operating system, right! So don't expect it to be just perfect. It has some glitches, it sometimes hangs BUT I never lost a piece of work so far so it's not too risky!
I strongly suggest, if you can do it, to install Vista on a second hard disk for your machine or as a dual boot. Don't install it in a Virtual PC (or if you do, just have a really big machine to handle it!). A good up-to-date CPU, 2 Gb of RAM, a reasonable hard disk and ... off you go!
I also challenged to beta gods! :-) I also installed 2007 Office System Beta on my Vista Beta. For those who also want to dare doing that, they can download the French version from here, and the Dutch version from there. Running 2007 Office Sytem Beta on Windows XP is fine ... but a Beta on a Beta can be challenging and actually IS challenging!
Now, if you want to see the type of things you can achieve with Vista, Microsoft has created a neat little site available at http://www.seewindowsvista.com. This is a very nice web site where you can clearly see the type of richness Vista will bring to your life. Definaltely worth the visit.
Give it a try and send your feedback!
