Let's define what an IT Architect is

Hans Hantson, a friend of mine, recently expressed his vision and understanding about what an IT Architect really is.

This is indeed subject to very many discussions and, in order to address that, Microsoft has tried to consolidate this understanding and has created a website that defines what an IT Architect is and what the different flavors (Solution Architect, Infrastructure Architect, Enterprise Architect, Industry Architect) are.

Have a look at Ron Jacob's new baby: www.skyscapr.net.

Oh yes, Ron also looks into what it takes to become an IT Architect.

Definately worth the visit!

It's still an interesting but never ending discussion ... Check out Jelle's blog posts: "The Technical Solutions Architect Role" at http://jelle.druyts.net/CommentView.aspx?guid=f26cf046-6aa3-4765-827c-80e667142dc3 and "More on the Architect role and title" at http://jelle.druyts.net/CommentView.aspx?guid=af719446-430f-427c-8cc6-5069d77c3b7b. Hans also comments on it at http://blogs.msdn.com/hans_vb/archive/2006/05/31/611527.aspx.
