Live.com ... search only! Why would you?
Lately, I've seen my live.com homepage updated very nicely with colour, more configuration settings, etc. All in all, this was just a great move.
Now, let's focus on this feature/setting called "search only". I'm quite puzzled with that and I really don't understand the reasons behind it!
To my eyes, my "Live.com" page is actually "My Web", the web that I'm used to looking at, every day, with my centers of interest, only the information that I DO want to see. This requires, of course, the identification with Live ID, so that the system can get my settings back and show me MY web (including my search engine as it is on the personnalized page today).
If I'm not logged in, I'm then considered as a "visitor", a "guest", or Mr Anybody, then the best bet is to show the Live Search feature and a little bit of explanation of what Live.com is all about!
Now, why would I ever be logged in to see an anonymous Search page? (if it's not to tell the search engine what I - as individual - am interested in and further help me getting more relevant content of course!)
At least, the URL could help me make the difference for example:
- www.live.com as "my web" & search.live.com as the search page (that's the way it was before if I'm not mistaken)
- my.live.com as "my web" & www.live.com as the search page (to promote the search feature as it is, I think, the objective)
whatever, but please, make the difference because www.live.com cannot be both an anonymous search page AND my web!
What do you guys think about that?
