Windows Live Mail Center available ...

Windows Live Mail Center beta, previously called Windows Live Mail Desktop is the tool that is meant to allow you to read your Hotmail/Windows Live Mail/Custom Domains mails from a rich desktop application via POP3. It also is applicable to any POP3 server.

So, should you want to download and use it, feel free to get it from here.

It's kind of sad that MS is putting all this effort into this "live mail center", while letting Windows Mail (nee Outlook Express) wallow in its own muck.

Hi PatriotB,

AFAIK (using the Gartner terminology: Probability 0.6), Windows Live Mail codebase will actually be the same as the Windows Mail.

Hey Kris,
So you're a regular reader of my blog! Thanks.
Would you >really< use a piece of code written by Microsoft! ;-)

So, does this mean that this is now open to the general public?

If I try to sign on it says that I need to register with the beta but if I try the link on ideas.live.com it says that it is not avialble in my country/language etc.... yet the exe can be downloaded?

There is an obviuos reason why we don't put Windows live Mail Center in Vista. I think if we did we would have another lawsuit. And like alain says its based on the same codebase so you have the choice here.
