Using a Virtual PC over a VPN

Since I am on the road quite often I need to VPN into the internal network while I am out and I have noticed that if I start the Virtual PC host software on my machine prior to establishing the VPN connection my guest PC can't connect to the internal network via VPN. But if I wait until the VPN connection is established and then I fire up the Virtual PC host then everything works like a charm.

A friend of mine told me how frustrated he was that sometimes he was not able to get the Virtual PC connected to the internal network he had open many support cases and had gone through many hoops like having his VPC removed and rejoin it from the domain installing some hotfixes etc. and once I told him what I had found he is now a happy camper and has been able to connect properly since then.

The SDK includes new sample forms, updated tools, and updated documentation that are a must for everyone that wants to do serious work with InfoPath.

InfoPath 2003 Toolkit for Visual Studio.

If you are planning to develop InfoPath forms and execute develop your login using C# or vb.net you must download the InfoPath 2003 Toolkit for Visual Studio.

The InfoPath 2003 Toolkit for Visual Studio .NET provides integration features and documentation that enable you to use Visual Studio .NET to create, debug, and build InfoPath projects that use Visual C# or Visual Basic .NET managed code. The integration features provided by the toolkit allow you to use a combination of InfoPath for form design and Visual Studio .NET for writing and debugging form code. Using the toolkit, you can create new InfoPath form templates or add managed code to existing templates.

InfoPath SP1 has been released

You can now download and install the official InfoPath SP1. It is part of the Office 2003 SP1 download.

Please pay special attention to the following if you have installed the InfoPath 2003 SP1 Preview:

InfoPath 2003 SP1 Preview and Office 2003 SP1

If you previously installed the InfoPath 2003 SP1 Preview, you should uninstall the InfoPath 2003 SP1 Preview prior to installing Office 2003 SP1. You will need your original InfoPath 2003 product CD to upgrade to the final version of InfoPath 2003 SP1. I have been playing with SP1 for quite some time and it includes some really nice features, there are 3 features that I realy love.
a) .Net programability support
b) Tablet PC enhancements
c) Digital signatures support

InfoPathSP1 Fully trusted forms configuration

I always forget how to configure the .Net framework so that it trusts code running inside InfoPath SP1.

Since I often use different machines I decided to post this in my weblog since I pretty much have access to it anywere I am.

1. Select Administrative Tools from the Start menu

2. Select Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Configuration

3. Define a new code group under My Computer – Runtime Security Policy – Machine – Code Groups – All_Code

4. Call this code group InfoPath Form Templates (this text has to be exact)

5. Use the Create Code group Wizard to choose Condition type (choose All Code to apply for all assemblies)

Assign permission Full Trust to the code group
