It seems like people are still using blogs to chat about common topics of interest and sometimes to ask technical questions; no one that I've seen uses them to house key project artifacts (which is the typical use of Notes databases).

Charlie, IBM has not standardized on a particular RSS reader; people either use the reader of their choice, or they don't use RSS yet (believe it or not). Our internal blog portal has really nice personalization features so that you can monitor replies to your entries and comments via the "Blog Central dashboard". This is not shown in the picture above, but would be if you clicked the little login link at the top of the screen and entered your IBM intranet user id and password.

One other thing re: RSS clients; we Bloglines users are out of luck since the Bloglines reader effectively lives on a web server which can't penetrate the IBM firewall to pick up the internal RSS feeds; you need a local client within the firewall that can hit the RSS feeds directly.

re: IBM running 3600 internal blogs

I've posted a screenshot of the personalized view of our internal blogs at the link below:

http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/blogs/dw_blog_comments.jspa?blog=396&entry=84914

Corporate blogging (internal) - Germany | agenturblog.de

PingBack from http://www.agenturblog.de/2005-06/corporate-blogging-internal-germany/
