Alice Knows WebMatrix

alice knows webmatrix-4

Hello there, and welcome to my blog!  I’m a Developer Evangelist at Microsoft based out of Southern California.  I support developers in their phone, cloud, and mobile endeavors; but my posts are mostly about WebMatrix, a free tool that makes it easy to create, customize, and publish your website.

Why read my blog?

Because you want to learn about a quick and easy way to build your favorite site (Drupal, WordPress, Umbraco, Joomla! to name a few) from an app gallery or to build a site with a simple template.  Because you want to explore the possibilities of ASP.NET Razor syntax.  Because you want to see how easy it is to get your site up and running from start to finish.

I provide easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions with screenshots, video tutorials, and valuable resources from events at which I present.

Great! How do I get started?

First, you’ll need to download WebMatrix.  I highly recommend downloading the latest Beta to take advantage of all the cool new features.

Check out a few of my posts, and come back to my blog to check for updates and new articles.

Start from the App Gallery and build a WordPress site

Here’s a little more about me, just in case you were curious.

I’ve been employed at Microsoft since 2010, shortly after graduating with my MS from UC Berkeley and BS from Stanford University.  I love talking to students and meeting people at Code Camps, user groups, conferences, and other events.  When I’m not out there getting everyone excited about technology, you can find me training in aerial silks, rock climbing, and hunting down good food.  You can learn more about me here.
