Add Video Bling to your Web with Silverlight Streaming

hey there!

Did you know you have 10 GB for free in the Silverlight Streaming cloud?

Silverlight Streaming

Here's a quick set of steps (my demo for our DigiGirlz day) to add "Silverlight Video Bling" to your Live Spaces site. You can upload a video, up to 105 MB, and it is automatically encoded to be Silverlight compatible. The end product is a piece of html (an iframe) that you can embed into any web site (including Spaces). Here we go, in a few easy steps...

1. Navigate to Silverlight Streaming – you’ll be prompted to install Silverlight if you don’t already have it.

step 1

2. Select Manage Videos from the menu at the top left

step 2

3. Upload your video

step 3

step 3b

4. Depending on the size of the video to be processed, you’ll see this at the end of the processing but until then, you’ll have to wait while it is processed.

step 4

5. Go to your Spaces site and customize it by adding a Custom HTML Module

step 5

step 5b

step 5c

6. Go back to the Silverlight Video page, hopefully your video is processed by now.

step 6

7. Click the link of the newly processed video and you should be presented with the Preview and iframe fragment

step 7

8. Grab the iframe code and put it in your Spaces page

step 8

9. Enjoy the show (adjust the size of the iframe to accommodate the video)!
