IIS 7 - Come for the features, stay for the performance

eek! It is always great to see measurable performance improvements from new technology. IIS 7 doesn't disappoint and the Microsoft.com Operations team has a great new blog post:

IIS 7.0/W2K8 RTM is over 10% more efficient then IIS 6.0/WS03 SP2 in handling live web platform traffic for the www.microsoft.com site.

If you consider the volume of traffic, that 10% is a HUGE multiplier :)

As far as features, I found this blog entry from Bill Staples (the big kahuna for IIS 7) very educational. He lists all the ways to get the new features of IIS 7 - now that the modular architecture allows the team to ship components "out of band". This is a nice summary post on the cool things enabled by IIS 7.

Ever wonder what CTP means? Bill spills the beans...

P.S. On Facebook? Become an IIS 7 Fan.
