Presentation Zen and the Empire Strikes Back
eek! I love Presentation Zen - the book, the web site, the movement. I've been trying to incorporate what I've learned into making my technical sessions much easier on the eyes, ears and spirits of my audiences. In doing research on better story telling, it seems like PowerPoint continues to be the criminal to be railed against. Well, it seems like the Empire is striking back :) The Microsoft Office Labs team just released pptPlex. Very, very neat!
"Lots of us here at Microsoft have been quietly using pptPlex for several months. The main feedback we’ve heard from our co-workers is “when can we use this for presentations with people outside of Microsoft? I have these new capabilities and I want to use it with my presentations to everyone.” So, here it is. We hope you’ll enjoy it too." - from their blog.
pptPlex is best experienced, so head over to their web site and give it a whirl.
Why? Wouldn't it be cool to tell a story - perhaps about a timeline and pan and zoom into appropriate points as in this image:
Sound interesting? Watch this scenario in this short video of pptPlex in action.
P.S. The video is a Community Clip - another innovation from the same team.
