Anandi’s Thoughts

Random stuff (mostly) about working as a Program Manager at Microsoft
Back again

I'm back at work again after taking a few days off to finish the work for the programming class I was taking, and visiting my family in Savannah, Georgia.  Of course, the email pile is deep and digging through it is slow.

The legal paperwork for the TAP program has been coming in steadily, and there are about 2 weeks left before the deadline.  We may have some openings still available - I'll know better in a few weeks, and then we'll pull some participants from our waiting list.

I'm creating a giant program plan document with detailed info on how the TAP is run, so that it'll help the next time we need to do this.  I also hope it'll assist other teams at Microsoft that want to start a TAP program - I've gotten a ton of help from experienced TAP program managers so I'd like to give some help back.  (Do I sound like a Girl Scout or what?!)

I am also awfully tired of the 30+ Post-Its on my desk that are the skeleton of the Skagit TAP project plan, so my goal for the next 2 weeks is to get those into MS Project and off of my desk!  It was a great brainstorming exercise to come up with all the individual tasks, but now it's just starting to look like clutter.

Some of you will be pleased to note I'm starting to look into getting Speech Server involved in the Microsoft MVP program.  It make take a while to get this up and running, but I know several people have asked and we really appreciate that kind of enthusiasm.  I'll keep you posted on what I find out.  I've been exchanging email with a guy on the team that owns the whole program and we're trying to figure out the best approach, since Speech Server is a fairly new product.

In addition, our Release Manager is on vacation this week, so I'll be running our weekly Leads meeting.  She has it down to an art, and I can only hope it goes as smoothly as it does when she runs it.  :)
