Bldg 20 is cool!
I had a meeting today with Glenn, one of the guys who runs the Platform Adoption Center, aka Bldg 20. This is where we're going to have our TAP Kickoff training event in October, and I wanted to understand the logistics before our big event. I got a nice tour, and I gotta say, the facility is *really* impressive. Yet another reason I'm glad to work at Microsoft. Basically, the Bldg 20 folks will help us get set up for the event - from setting up the rooms and lab machines, to ordering food, to coordinating visitor badges. Which is super helpful since they have several events at the center every week - they have the process all set up. So nice not to have to deal with everything from scratch!
I also met with the Program Managers on my team who own the different feature areas of the product, as well as a few other folks who will be presenting topics at the kickoff to review the agenda. Despite the late meeting time (5pm), I got a lot of great suggestions and I feel like we're really on the right track to have a successful training event. We need to sort out some details about the lab sessions, but it's coming along nicely and everyone knows what they need to do. It looks like the topics will fit nicely in the 4 days, without being too jam-packed. This week I'll be working on the fun stuff (evening social events), which I'm also looking forward to.
Other things on the agenda for this week: get our connect.microsoft.com site set up and "invite" folks to the program so they can access the site, schedule the different sessions for the training so they fit with the days and rooms available, work on my slides for the TAP session at the kickoff. There are other things but it's just too late to remember them now. After months of planning, it's weird to be so close to the start of the program. But I'm definitely ready for it to start after talking about it for so long!
Ciao!
