Ravings of a Developer TS

I have been with Microsoft as part of their Develop Platform and Evangelism team since July of 2006. As I go about my day to day, I often stumble across things I want to share out with the community. This is my soap box. I am based out of the Midwest District, so please don't be offended if you see most of the events I post being in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. If you are ever curious if the event will be in a city near you, just ask :)

Where to get started with TFS and VSTS...

On a regular basis, I get the question, where do I even begin looking at Visual Studio Team System?  Well, the Team Suite, and it's 4 included roles is a good start.  But don't neglect TFS.  The Team Foundation Server component when used in conjunction with the Suite or any of the role based editions adds so muich bang for the buck that it seems crazy to use one and not the other.  Here are some good starting points if you want to get ramped up FAST!

Visual Studio Team System portal site: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/teamsystem/default.aspxGet everything you need from licensing help, to virtual labs and web-casts, to best practices and whitepapers.

Team Foundation Server Team Center: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/teamsystem/aa718934.aspx

Team System Rocks tutorials: http://teamsystemrocks.com/tutorials/default.aspx I know, it seems strange to push a non-Microsoft site, but these guys have it all in one place.  Web-casts of just about everything you could ever want to know about VSTS and TFS.

Rob Caron's Blog:  http://blogs.msdn.com/robcaron/default.aspx.  His Blog really is the nexus of the Team System universe.

Ready to Install?  Download the guidance: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=e54bf6ff-026b-43a4-ade4-a690388f310e&displaylang=en.  Word of warning, FOLLOW this guidance to the letter!  Skipping or changing steps may result in an incomplete or unworkable installation.  You don't want to have to do this too many times :)
