it would be more nice if the 3rd party site can retrieve user's email after user login.

bcz, it is a more convenient id than unique user id. and also make it possible to send active mail, etc.

OpenID isn't MS technology. Besides NIH syndrome, and the fact OpenID wasn't around when Live/Passport was invented, OpenID just doesn't benefit them at all. As much as I would prefer them to use OpenID I wouldn't bet dollars to donuts that they will in the near future. If OpenID becomes ubiquitous then they'll have to, but that's a ways off yet.

Hey - the reason we don't return the email address back to the third party site is privacy.

if the site wants the user's email address they should store it in their profile engine.

I guess is just about implement the MembershipProvider pattern pointing out to WLID.

Interesting thing here is how the MembershipUser has to be set in order for Sharepoint to be consistent with WLID account lifetime (i.e. can abc@hotmail.com be reassigned after it has died?)

For the past 8 years I've been able to go on to a sight called Storenet.jiffylube.com. But as of recently I've blocked by some damn Window live ID. WIth no explanation or idea what the hell it is. I want some help to either remove it or instructions around it so I can continue operating my business whithout all this crap in the way. I just wish people would just leave things alone. Especially when it concerns my livelyhood. Please respond!!!

Hi,

We are trying to implement SSO authentification thru PHP page using the live@edu certificate MS provided us.

Do you know an easy way to do it with PHP and SOAP, using the live API ?

We already do know how to connect with the webauth sdk and and how to retreive contact data of users and it works fine.

Hi Angus,

I am trying to change my Live ID association with the Microsoft Partner program, so that it reflects our new web address (dgg@trimit.com). When I try to log in, I get the following message:

This Windows Live ID has been reserved for future use. If you have reserved this ID, Windows Live will notify you when you can use it. To sign in now, please type another e-mail address.

I therefore use the forgotten password link, change my password and then try to log in again. I then receive the same error message as before. I have tried to contact someone to help me, but have been unable to.

Are you able to give me a pointer?

Can you provide any help or info on the following error?

I have an Xbox live gamer tag linked to my Live ID which is now giving the above error when I try and sign in.

I can change passwords ok, but still get the same error trying to log in.

I can’t even change Live ID for my gamer tag using my Xbox; I get a Live NOT available error, and basically can’t do any account based maintenance at all.

Thanks for any help or understanding to can provide

I can sign in my account to this site https://accountservices.passport.net/CustomerSupport.srf?id=10 but still I can't sign in to Xbox.com. I still received the same error message "the Windows Live ID has been reserved for the future use." Is there any updates that I need to download?

So what gives? I see tons of people having the same problem as mine with no answer. There is also no email address whatsoever for support, no phone# etc...

I used mine for one night, and since I get the same error everyone is talking about. Is this just some type of email scam or what???

I too have a "reserved for future use" problem.

I had not logged on for a some time and asked for a password reset. I followed the email link, reset my password and tried to log on. That's when I got the message.

I'm reluctant to abandon this account as it has the contacts of many people I no longer have emails or messenger ID's for. Please help! Thanks - Motty
