Is TechCrunch turning Valleywag-ish?

Is it just me or have articles on TechCrunch started to look like things you'd see on Valleywag?

(reverse-chronologically) Looking at articles published since 8/20/2007 :

From TechCrunch's about page :

"TechCrunch, founded on June 11, 2005, is a weblog dedicated to obsessively profiling and reviewing new Internet products and companies. In addition to new companies, we will profile existing companies that are making an impact (commercial and/or cultural) on the new web space."

From Valleywag :

"You people in Silicon Valley are far too busy changing the world to care about sex, greed and hypocrisy. So you won't want to read a tech gossip rag like Valleywag."

Interestingly, all these suspect valleywag-like articles, except for the one about Sprint, were written by Duncan Riley.

I think this is more a "Duncan Riley issue" than a TechCrunch issue. Duncan works out the AUS/NZ region and basically holds the night shift for TC, so far as I can tell. Most of his comments tend to follow the top 5 or so stories on TechMeme in a given day. It's a deviation from what Michael Arrington originally intended with TechCrunch's initial focus.

Duncan's a good guy for sure and an avid tech fan, but it is a different voice.
