Windows Server support for Amazon EC2 - coming soon

At Amazon Web Services’s Startup-Tour here in San Francisco, Jeff Barr just announced the AWS roadmap and it included “support for Windows Server”. Jeff says that Amazon has received “several requests” for Windows Server support for EC2 and while he couldn’t commit to a date, he said it’s definitely on the roadmap.

GoGrid and Mosso are also examples of cloud computing platforms that support Windows Server and .NET applications respectively. On the other hand, via Enomaly, I’d read about running Windows Server on EC2 Qemu and Linux. Amazon’s move to support Windows Server on EC2 is definitely welcome and exciting for all the startups looking at using Windows Server.

Sounds brill. I wish GoGrid ditched the Beta tag as it's a bit off-putting for using their services. I wonder how this fits in with possible MinWin development, if Microsoft hints at a lighter weight grid optimized Windows for Live services and business at PDC.
