Web 2.0 and SOA 2.0

The MS Architect Journal issue 6 is out! And this table taken from the article "Taking Governance to the Edge" really echos well with me...

Table 1   Comparing SOA 1.0 and SOA 2.0

SOA 1. SOA 2.
Supply-side oriented Supply-demand collaboration
Straight-through processing Complex systems of systems.
Single directing mind Collaborative composition
Controlled reuse Uncontrolled reuse
Endo-interoperability (within a single enterprise
or closed collaborative system)
Exo-interoperability
Cost savings Improved user experience

this really succinctly and precisedly describes the evolving problem definition - going from the traditional enterprise application integration problems within an enterprise - to a truely complex distributed system across the wider intranet infrastructure. It is a much more creative way of building software services, composing them in wonderfully dynamic and collaborative manners such as Mashup - I'm personally very excited about these new Web 2.0 scenarios!
