We wanted to extend a big thank you to everyone who helped make today’s launch a great success.  A big thank you to Verizon, Malinos Modernos, Vanderbilt University, Tube Lines, San Diego Zoo, Continental, First American, Service U, Mediterranean Shipping, Acosta, Rackspace and Spot Runner who joined us in Los Angeles to launch our three new products.  The folks at these companies are doing some amazing things with technology from developing cutting-edge Web sites that attract and retain more users to providing more reliable infrastructure for managing mission critical business applications.

There is a ton of information on microsoft.com and our press pass site on the new products and the launch events.  For us, we are pretty excited about  a benchmark done by one of our very own, Greg Leake, for this launch.  We think he is a hero given the countless hours he spent in his lab updating the .NET StockTrader application and testing Windows Server 2008 against Linux.  The results are really impressive, as is the amount of caffeine he had to drink to get this done in a short amount of time, I’m sure.  The new benchmark shows the scalability as well as performance of Windows Server 2008 with .NET Framework 3.5 in mission-critical enterprise scenarios, including a 117% better throughput than IBM WebSphere 6.1 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux for the Web application Server test when using the IBM-designed Trade 6.1 benchmark.  Hmmm….wonder what IBM will think about this.

A lot of us are in LA and we will keep you posted on what’s happening at the Nokia Center as the day goes on.

Tomorrow marks a significant milestone in Microsoft’s history – our biggest enterprise launch to date.  This is a great excuse for us to celebrate the IT pros and developers who work behind the scenes to run businesses worldwide.  These folks deserve to be recognized.  Stay tuned for tomorrow’s post to hear more.
