Do you use Visual C++? What do you like, love, hate with whatever tool you are using? So I had to get into CreateWindow & the message pump and all that jazz, which is fine, part of the territory (thank goodness for Charles Petzold). I just remember back in the days when I was trying to learn MFC and gave up because I didn't really understand Windows internals enough to understand MFC. My wish is for VC++ to have an easy-to-use object-oriented UI library. One so easy, even a newbie like me can use. Perhaps, WinForms has spoiled me.

Maybe you were just looking for comments for VC++ the tool, instead of specific Windows requests, but that the thing that came immediately to mind.

Thanks for listening.

P.S. I just don't know what I don't know, but if you can somehow make DirectX apps easier to write, it'd be greatly appreciated.

re: C++ Students and Hobbyists, Lend Me Your Opinions!

What would be nice is if it supported the whole SGI STL.

In Uni we spend a considerable amount of time learning about these containers and when we write our code we have to do so in Linux as your compiler does not support them.

I have no other reason to use Linux other than to code C++ assignments. It would be nice if I didn't have to.

Zero knowledge beginners

This is not really an application issue but a lot of young people want to start with a programming language but don't find any good articles/resources or help to learn this language (including C++).
- So a website with articles, lessons and webcasts should help to teach people who have absolutely NO knowledge of any programming language.
- A lot of real world example applications and some articles on how to recreate it.
- Last: How to design a good object oriënted application.

My tip is probably not going to make it for the RTM version of Visual Studio but you can always add it to MSDN later.

re: C++ Students and Hobbyists, Lend Me Your Opinions!

I second Zippy's eloquent comments. Starting from Zero is difficult, and there are few good resources to support this.

My other big pet peeve is autocomplete should have the ability to guess more complex scenarios. Maybe a beginners toolbar that will help me build loops and explain away the syntax and context of the simplest procedures.

IDEs seem to be fixing a tractor with a allen wrench, everything happens one tiny screw at a time. Why can't the IDE see further into what I want to do and autocomplete big blocks of code?

re: C++ Students and Hobbyists, Lend Me Your Opinions!

Greetings from Malaga (Spain).
even for those who have genius brain.

c++ will be very easy to be presented in funny way, intertaining situation.

we cant force people to learn new language in strict way, human love language(whatever that language is) because it's fun to do..but c++ is machine language, so we must find a way that this language can be fun too ;)
