Ryan Plant is a Strategic Architecture Advisor in the Developer and Platform Evangelism organization of Microsoft. As an Architecture Advisor, Ryan advises large corporations on strategic architecture and its role in competitive business. It has always been Ryan’s passion to help IT organizations align closely with the business to demonstrate strategic and competitive value. During the past 13 years of Ryan’s professional career in Information Technology he has served as a Software Engineer, Business Analyst, Software Architect, Solutions Architect, Enterprise Architect and CTO in a variety of industries from Telecommunications to Retail and Hospitality.
Ryan achieved the Microsoft Certified Architect certification in the domain of Solutions Architecture in January of 2005, being one of the first to be awarded the credential. Since becoming certified Ryan has served as a review board member and candidate mentor and is currently on the board of directors for the Microsoft Certified Architect Program (MCAP). As an active member of the community, Ryan has spoken at conferences such as TechEd and at numerous developer and architect events. Ryan is also a member of the International Association of Software Architects (IASA) and is the founder and President of the Salt Lake City chapter.
A lifelong student with a passion for learning, Ryan’s studies include Computer Science, Business Administration, Piano Performance, Social Sciences, and Biology. Ryan is currently pursuing a Masters of Business Administration with an emphasis in Information Systems Management. Interests include classical music, composition, spending time with his wife and two children and playing Xbox.
