I don’t know how many of you are familiar with our virtual earth platform, but its something that I find immensely  interesting. A couple of days ago the Virtual Earth(VE) team announced they had added another 69.2 Terabytes of mapping data! Cities such as Vienna have been updated and you can see a comprehensive list of what has been added here on  a blog by Chris Pendelton .

You can learn a bit more about Virtual Earth from the excellent TED site, and watch a brief presentation regarding its capabilities.

What is interesting about VE is that it changes the way we can look for information, using the map, the space itself as the starting pointing  for discovering  information as opposed to searching by a date, or an address. It allows the customer to make a far more informed decision about how far away is the hotel from the city centre. Giving them greater confidence in the choices they are making.
