Globalisation: The changing role of lawyers in a flat world

Senior Vice President and Worldwide General Counsel for Microsoft, Brad Smith yesterday (6 March) addressed students at the Sydney Law School, The University of Sydney on the changing role of lawyers in the internet age. Issues discussed included privacy, internet safety and global citizenship.

Mr Smith also discussed the company’s recent legal challenges, as well as his own personal experiences while working on legal and public policy issues with governments around the world. Mr Smith leads Microsoft’s worldwide Legal and Corporate Affairs Department, which is responsible for all legal work and for government, industry and community affairs activities. He is also a member of the Executive Management Committee for Microsoft Corporation. He is also responsible for the expansion of Microsoft’s citizenship and philanthropic activities and the strengthening of legal compliance programs. To read more click here
