FIRST, the people who bring us a whole range of robotics competitions and more, are once again hosting their annual FIRST Women in Science & Technology Forum. The people I have talked to who have attended or brought/sent young women have all raved about it. If you know high school girls who are in the New Hampshire or near by Massachusetts areas this may be something to plan for November 5th, 2010. I’ve seen an amazing growth in the number of girls in the various FIRST robotics programs over the years. This is an area where FIRST really puts in some effort across the country.

The FIRST Women in Science & Technology Forum is scheduled for November 5, 2010 at FIRST Place and UNH-Manchester in Manchester, NH.

This day-long event for high school girls will feature women in the fields of science and technology discussing their careers, education, experiences, and advice.  College students will share first-hand accounts about their experiences at the schools they attend.  This year we have over 45 speakers, panelists and presenters scheduled throughout the day.

We encourage all high school girls considering science, math, engineering, and technology-related fields to attend.

Information and registration is available online at http://www.usfirst.org/roboticsprograms/firstplace/content.aspx?id=18105.  If you have any questions, please send an email to firstplace@usfirst.org.

Too far away to attend? FIRST will be filming segments of the conference and will be available on the FIRST website shortly after the conferences.

Thank you and we hope to see you there!
