Pros and cons and honest and hopefully friendly discussion of issue with different opinions make for good learning experiences.
One of the things that sometimes comes up in talking with colleagues is that programming is not all of computer science. It's not controversial, of course, and yet I mention it because it's one of the most common misconceptions that non-computer people have about the field. (As you pointed out elsewhere, you can find online courses that claim to teach computer science, but it's really just programming--sometimes in just one language.) A little bit more controversial is whether programmers really need computer science to do their work. I think they do, but that's partly because of what I think computer science is, yet another semi-controversial topic.
