This is a popular request, so I thought I'd collect all the links to the "ecosystem" around the Visual Studio 2008 and .NET Framework 3.5 Training Kit that our Developer and Platform Evangelism team put together.
So what is this thing?
It is a collection of hands-on-labs and presentations for technologies such as LINQ, C# 3.0, Visual Basic 9, WCF, WF, WPF, and ASP.NET Ajax. The images above are from: WCF Web Centric (REST/Syndication), Workflow Services (WCF+WF), OBA and Silverlight presentations (there are TONS more).
Q. I'm not running one of the supported operating systems for the kit on my production development box?
A. This is only an issue if you need to be compiling and running all the demos. Some of the demos/hands on labs are known to work with configurations not listed. You can always enjoy the presentations and source code without compiling.
Q. Great stuff, I want to replay this for my folks, any videos?
A. Sure thing, catch these presentations in video on Channel 9: http://channel9.msdn.com/Showforum.aspx?forumid=38&tagid=267
Q. I'm a VS 2005/FX 2.0 sort of person, any quick guide to what's new in the box with VS 2008?
A. Absolutely, MSDN details it all here: What's New in Visual Studio 2008 with jumps to:
Q. Anything else?
A. Some other things you may enjoy:
Q. How about Visual Studio 2008/.NET 3.5 SP1 (update as of 9/2008)?
A. Glad you asked, check out the training kit for this, no videos yet but good stuff - presentations, labs, demos.
Q. How about WPF/Silverlight Training (update as of 9/2008)?
A. Tons of this stuff, I'd start at MIX University - catch up on the MIX07 and MIX08 WPF Bootcamps and Silverlight training.
Q. And what of MOSS? (update as of 9/2008)?
A. Microsoft has a one stop shop now for this stuff. Get more, do less, grab VPCs, etc. Check it out!
Happy Visual Studio 2008!
