eek! Soma announced a whole slew of new stuff at TechEd 2008. I'm trying to get caught up with all the coolness including the Silverlight buzz, but I really like this long awaited news:

Visual Studio 2008 extensions for Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 v1.2 – this allows developers to use Visual Studio 2008 to extend the value of Windows SharePoint Services and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server by providing a simplified development environment.

Get the extensions here and follow Paul Andrew's blog for updates and a new introductory SharePoint site for .NET developers (I was having problems accessing the site last night).

P.S. Beware the visualizations at the refurbished Microsoft Communities site that Soma announced. I found myself just staring at the visualizations, they are addictive.
