eek! In the last of the "cat oriented" posts (I promise!), I'd like to end with a great podcast I listened to recently (it had several references to cats, so it is on topic!):

Standford Podcast

In the session, Christine Benninger, described her "cesspool" and the innovative thinking she brought to cleaning it up. The session description reads:

If you're seeking inspiration, you will find it here from Humane Society Silicon Valley's President, Christine Benninger.  She describes the organization as she inherited it as a cesspool, rife with drug dealing staff, disorderly management, sour community relations, and cruel animal care.  She recalls her quickly orchestrated six-month plan to keep the organization afloat - and how dire circumstances made her monumentally more creative and successful.

Here's a map of the session with some video highlights:

This session really resonated with me and I would highly recommend it. Ms. Benninger imparts some important leadership and life lessons on:

  • taking the right risks
  • seeking out teammates with the "right passion"
  • using pricing models and ROI to market great ideas
  • and a ton more.

These sessions are a great addition to my Zune; hope you can enjoy it too: Entrepreneurial Though Leaders Podcasts.
