Wicked Smart Kids at the Invention Convention

eek! One of the great parts of my job is that I get to collect fun experiences and log them as work :) Two weekends ago, I was a Microsoft judge at the Connecticut Invention Convention. What a thrilling experience to witness the youngest minds (grade 8 and younger) think up some truly fantastic creations. In it's 26 year (wow!), the event challenges kids throughout the state of Connecticut to invent. Everyone in attendance was a winner but special awards were given to inventors in every age group.

Microsoft was a proud sponsor of the event and gave special awards to inventors whose creations focused on Accessibility - read more on Microsoft's efforts on Accessibility.

"Our vision is to create innovative technology that is accessible to everyone and that adapts to each person's needs. Accessible technology eliminates barriers for people with disabilities and it enables individuals to take full advantage of their capabilities."

Inventions on the stadium floor

It was truly an honor to review each and every invention on the stadium floor. I got to speak on behalf of Microsoft - thanks Larry for recommending that I dress up and shave! Wicked smart kids...great job everyone! Does your state have something like this? Drop me a line!

  • Sounds like a cool event for the kids. Nothing like this happenning in AZ. Would the organizers be interested in having a similar event out here in the West?

  • eek! I love my job and yet again , I was able to step out of ordinary and connect with folks who volunteer
