I haven't blogged for a while, so I will just stream out what is front of mind lately...

  • Seattle is smaller than I imagined. It reminded me of Adelaide, but with less good wine. Its bizarre to think that Boeing, Starbucks, Amazon.com and Microsoft are all headquartered in a little city.
  • IE8 to support "super standards" mode by default. Pixelated smiley faces breathe a sigh of relief. Okay, now everybody cut the IE team some slack and let them finish their browser.
  • Office 2007 has been on the shelves for over a year now. SP1 is out and about. The Ribbon is popping up in all sorts of (non microsoft) applications. By my judgement, the bleeding edgers, first movers and early adopters should be up and running with Office 2007. If you havent upgraded yet, its time to re-evaluate your insistence on a file menu. That interface really wasnt designed for 1440x1050 resolutions. Your accuracy hitting a 20 pixel button is impressive, just like a wooly mammoths tusks....
  • The whole monorail and space-needle thing in Seattle is also impressive. But it left me thinking "Dudes, it is time to upgrade"
  • After 6 months of living on the streets of Sydney, I finally found permanent accommodation. Also starting to wonder where I put that rice cooker, 6 months ago.
  • WWTelescope is looking very cool - can't wait to try this out. InkSeine is fantastic and I hope represents the future of computing...
  • ... and on that note, DEATH TO PAPER - it is the 21st century now. I mean c'mon, paper, really? A little bit too retro, don't you think... Unless of course, you are just trying to be ironic. In that case, it better be a moleskine.
  • Canberra is an interesting place for Grads in the Federal Government. I guess that adversity breeds camaraderie.
