Information, tips, news and announcements about SQL Server Analysis Services and PowerPivot directly from the product team.
Do you want to analyze SharePoint document libraries or lists? Then read Uday S. Unni’s excellent new SQL Server white paper about importing SharePoint list data into PowerPivot. It’s brief, it’s crisp, it’s to the point, covering common questions and typical issues. Look no further; this white paper has the answers!
What’s covered?
For more information, please refer to the white paper “Using SharePoint List Data in PowerPivot” on MSDN at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=221005.
Does this require that the list exists on an enterprise ediition farm? Whlie we have some EE capacity, most of our sites (and therefore most of the lists we would want to connect with) are on standard edition farms. Is adding ADO.NET on the standard edition farm sufficient to connect to these as an Atom feed?
Installing the ADO.NET runtime, will render the lists on your SharePoint farm irrespective of your farm type. PowerPivot works only on the Enterprise Edition, and so you will not be able to see the 'Export as DataFeed' button on your gallery/lists. But you should be able to access the data via the URL.
Hope that helps!
