So I promised that I would write up a series talking about all the games that were submitted into round 2 of last year’s competition. I was hoping to write up mini-reviews of each but time has got away from me – particularly with the (at the time) unplanned transition over to a new job in New York. As we are getting close to this year’s round 1 deadline, however, I wanted to share at least SOMETHING with the students who participated and those who might be entering this year (and there are already a bucketload of you in all three tracks – it’s so incredibly awesome).

So – what I’m going to do is write up a series of posts that showcase each game – the team and game names, the country they represented, and some screenshots of them. Then, I’ll go back over time and update these posts with links to more info like websites, retail versions of the games (yes, some have been published for sale!), Youtube videos and my own commentary on what I liked or didn’t like.

At least this way you get to see the variety of games that made it to the penultimate round. A lot of these could have easily been in the top six – it was a very competitive competition.

One last thing: If you know of where I can locate more information about any of these games – Youtube videos, websites, whether they’ve been published for sale or for free, demo’s – anything! – please post comments in the corresponding post so I can update the blog with the info. Students – this is your chance to self-pimp your game!

Without further adieu – part one!
