We have showed this control around a few places now (Worldwide Partner Conference in the SteveB Keynote demo, MIX UK in the session I did with Danny Thorpe).
The guys (ScottIsAFool) @ liveside have blogged on the IM Control (I gave them so people weren't copying out lowres screenshots from video streams - when the MIX UK Recordings become available).
I don't have an update on the release date but it isn't that far away and it will be cool!

This sounds interesting, however I am wondering about a few things;
- Can this system be abused e.g. send the person spam
- Will you have to login to Windows Live ID to use it?
- Will there be measures to block certain individuals messaging you?
Hey Liam,
great questions - see inline.
----> there is a capthca/human interactive proof which stops bots from being able to SPIM (Spam over IM)
----> No - you can do this as a "visitor" or you can sign in to send a message.
----> No because this is designed to be placed on your blog or a website so people not on your buddy list can contact you. Therefore we can't block certain people as they aren't authenticated.

Hi Angus,
This looks really cool, just a few concerns/questions:
- Does it have to have a status icon?
I prefer people on the web not to know my status so i get to choose to reply or not without the other end getting angry if i don't....love some web privacy.
- Will offline messages be supported?
P.S. I also posted the above questions/concerns on LiveSide. Your choice where you wish to reply ;)
At Mix UK Danny Thorpe and Angus Logan gave us a first look at a new feature that's coming soon,
Today, and thanks to David Salgado , I had the opportunity to chat with Angus Logan (Product Manager
