Over on the SLS blog RemyP announced the SLS Ads Pilot - This is quite exciting - if you have great content, you can store and serve the video content, and now get paid!
Below is the post:
This spring we'll be launching a pilot program to offer turnkey advertising with the Silverlight Streaming video service. At MIX'08 we announced this pilot program to test the turnkey integration of the Silverlight Streaming service with the Microsoft AdCenter platform. This pilot program will allow a control group of Silverlight Streaming account holders to take Silverlight videos and automatically insert contextual advertisements into the end-user video playback experience. This is a real program, with revenues paid in US dollars, and it will include revenue sharing for the accounts participating in the trial. The pilot program will work as follows: Potential participants can register their interest using the form at http://advertising.microsoft.com/publisher/sls, making sure to provide complete and accurate information. The pool of accounts will be reviewed by the biz dev team in early April and a number of accounts will be hand-picked for the first phase of the trial. A few weeks later, the selected account holders will receive an email inviting them to start uploading videos on http://Silverlight.live.com using the Silverlight Streaming video turnkey scenario that was introduced in the MIX'08 Beta release. For each video upload, it is essential that relevant and complete keywords are provided, and ads targeted for those keywords and optimized for the viewer will be displayed as part of the playback experience. As an account holder you will have the responsibility to showcase the video on your blog, web site, etc. For this reason, it is important that you provide a list of URLs where you plan to showcase or implement those videos. Throughout the spring and summer we will gradually scale up the number of participants in this program. The terms and conditions are those which currently apply to Silverlight Streaming and AdCenter. This pilot program is only open to participants in the United States.

The team over at iBloks have delivered a solution for Fox to promote the Alien vs Predator Requiem DVD sale.
This is built on the iBloks Video Messenger infrastructure, so when you are on the site watching video, you just click on the video - it takes you to a more advanced player where you can select the content, and you can also IM your friends.
Lets have a look at the business value here for the advertiser (Fox).
When someone hits this web site the #1 thing is to try to keep them engaged, and show them how great the movie is. By turning the page into their IM client they they are able to keep the engagement minutes up.
A side benefit of this is once you start chatting with a friend, you can add the URL of the site you are currently on, therefore you use the visitor's Windows Live Messenger contact list for better acquisition of customers (note: you can't SPAM the contact list, but if your content is compelling enough the visitor will IM their friends).
Below are the screens and some narration.

During the latest release of the Tafiti Quick App we accidentally nuked some of the code which made Tafiti work with SharePoint.
George Durzi (Clarity Consulting) has hooked this back up (I can tell because I get an RSS feed from the latest Check Ins for the Quick Apps project)
Checked in Tafiti SharePoint search code into WLQuickApps.Tafiti.WebSite - MOSS Search Branch. The code in this branch is configured to use the SharePoint search provider by default. Make sure you upgrade your web service reference to point to your SharePoint web service (don't change the web reference name - it should stay as SPSearch) View article...

Sorry we nuked your change George but I'm super happy it is back in now!
To grab the code before we package the release go to the Source Code tab in Codeplex.

Remember MIX08? When we doubled Silverlight Streaming (the storage 4 to 10 GB, the max KBPS 700 to 1.4MBPS, the bandwidth instead of 1 million minutes (what did that mean?) - we now give you 5 TERABYTES of traffic PER MONTH!!!)!!!
well here are a few more updates :
ReadWriteWeb just posted about WebIM being hot (caused by the recent Meebo valuation of ~ $200m w/ 29m users).
They are right - Web based IM is hot!
We are seeing a lot of interest in the Windows Live Messenger Library and the Windows Live Messenger IM Control.
Go Web IM!
(but long live the client... i think client experience is better anyway :) )
the tax mess you leave behind...
I mean - why would a country run a different calendar year for personal income tax as company income tax? craziness.
George Moore is the General Manager of the WL Platform team (runs a chunk of engineering);
He has a super detailed post about AtomPub / Tooling and storage.
