I just happen to be home this year for the best day on the river in Brisbane – Riverfire, part of Brisbane’s River Festival. Basically everyone celebrates having a big brown river run through our city with lots of fun stuff.
Riverfire is the business – they blow up ALOT fireworks from ~ 4/5 locations around the city (including the inner city buildings and bridges) and the finale is one of the RAAF’s F1-11’s doing a dump and burn.
Today was rehearsal time a F1-11 flew up the river and right past my apartment – check out the video (link) or below;
I’ll update this post tomorrow with more – but for now check out photos from 2005 and the start of 2008
If you haven't read Marc's post go read it, then go read this post - all should be answered.
With a mantra of comprehensive, simple, open we'll fit fine into the 'Open Mesh' (plus we've built on HTTP, FeedSync, REST, ATOM(PUB), JSON, then the identity system uses: WS-Fed/WS-Trust).

over at the Live Mesh blog they’ve posted an update which should propagate within 24 hours – you can try to force and update by right clicking on the notifier (in the system tray) and selecting update.
This update includes:
At the end of July the Messenger Server team posted WLML v2, since then they’ve added a a neat sample for v2 and also recently launched a new version of the Messenger Facebook Application (watch old video about it + use on Facebook).
The Messenger Facebook app enhancements are kinda interesting – usability stuff like removing the human interactive proof, display name – but my favorite feature is pushing the messenger personal status message to facebook status.
---
I installed the app in Facebook http://apps.new.facebook.com/windowslivemessenger/ and now on my boxes view people can see:
I can also jump into the application and see all my buds, filter if they are online, share the application etc.
When I go to the settings page there is a new option
You’ll notice my personal status message is pushed to my Facebook status
If I change it in messenger

Eran Hammer-Lahav announced the OAuth Core 1.0 specification has now been licensed! I’ve been watching OAuth for a while as it is similar to Windows Live ID Delegated Authentication – its an interesting technology with a very strong community.
Check it out!
This interview may end some careers but that’s not stopping me from sharing it (Stream High | Stream Low | WMV Lo | WMV Hi | MP4 | MP3)

Amit Mital just announced at dev.live.com (and the Live Mesh blog) we are expanding the technical preview of Live Mesh to include Canada (Paul will be happy), India and Ireland (a few weeks ago we expanded to the UK, Australia and New Zealand).
You are just seeing the tip of the ice berg, I can’t wait until we open the developer platform and new types of applications start getting created!
I was voting on best frock and checking if I’d cut it as a celeb. when I saw the NineMSN and Dolly Australia team announced they’ve integrated the Windows Live Messenger Library (WLML) into their site, allowing people to chat inline and share content.
The experience is not only slick, they’ve also done some ingenious things to make the WLML work across pages (i.e. you can switch pages and it will keep on working.
Below are some screen-shots I took from my Mac (using Firefox) just to prove it works cross platform too (I also use my mac for other things)
Go to http://dolly.ninemsn.com.au and on the right hand side you’ll see the DollyMessenger widget
When you choose to sign in they pop a window with the WLML sign in control
You need to sign in using your Windows Live ID (if you don’t already have a session open)
After you grant permission, the parent window takes focus again and you see all of your buddies
You can collapse the dolly messenger too and you get that little pink bit on the right hand side, it starts blinking when there is a new message for you.
You see all of your buddies and the conversations which are running
Conversation
Spending more time on the site chatting… (getting brand impression and ad time :))
During a conversation I can choose to browse to another page
and the conversation persists
How do they do it? there is a popup window called “brain.aspx” and that hosts the javascript WLML object, and it talks back to the parent window to refresh the UX.
I had just installed Firefox and didn’t change the search box to Live Search – below you’ll learn how to do that.
From the search drop down you can choose More search providers
Search the Firefox Add-ons page for Live Search
BAM! you can be using your mac and using Live Search
