Sondre Bjellås rocks the Mesh : Flickr2Mesh

Sondre Bjellås has been posting on Mesh and Live Framework quite a bit.

One of his posts really jumped out at me, the Flickr2Mesh application he wrote.

Its fairly straight forward code, just downloads all of your Flickr photos to your hard drive at a specific resolution.

But if you think about combining this with Live Mesh on your phone, or the Live Desktop, or the Live Mesh client for Windows or Mac – suddenly you get access to all of your photos on any of your devices.

Very cool.

  • Neat, but what I need is the other way around!

  • I'm with Matt, I think the killer app is pushing stuff from a folder straight to the web services (i.e. facebook flickr, whoever), in addition to syncing them to each other.

  • I'm planning on doing a two-way sync between Live Mesh and Flickr. Working on a solution to do interval based operations somewhere in the cloud. Potentially from Windows Azure - yet that (Azure) will become a commercial platform and cost money, so I'm looking for an alternative solution. Would it be enough to have an application running on your desktop computer or would you like the sync to happen by services running in the cloud? My first update to the Flickr2Mesh sample will be a local client that does sync. Thanks for the suggestions and comments!
