To avoid any clichés (numbers 8, 9 and 10 to be exact), I'm not going to apologize for my mini-blog break. I've been meaning to blog about this for a while, and I've gotten to the point where I'm going to explode if I don't.

Everyone's seen the iPhone commercials. They are all very cute and direct. Aimed at the average, not-necessarily tech-savvy consumer. But the ads are starting to get to me. The iPhone-commercial-background-music starts playing in my head whenever someone does anything with any phone. And the tune is so unique and peculiar that I can't even hum it back.

One of my best friends, Greg, has one of these HTC PPCs. He's heavily reliant on it, and every time pulls it out to look something up on Google Maps, I go, "there's never been an iPod that could do this..." (a la "Never been an iPod"). And then he deliberately changes the orientation on the phone, so that I'd go "... or this..."

The other day, one of us wanted calamari. I instantly went, "say we're watching Pirates of the Caribbean. mmm, did someone say Calamari?" (a la "Calamari").

That's it, I'm buying an iPhone, just so that I can stop reciting these commercials and get on with my life. I (conveniently) "misplaced" my Blackjack recently. I can't say that I've missed it a whole lot. It was like the time I fried my smartphone - I find myself disconnected from my email and my calendar when I'm on the road now, which is just awesome. I'm now back to using my Nokia 6200. The only reason I bought the Nokia (back in 2001) was because it is gold and black in color (Purdue colors). I think the last time I charged that phone was back in 2002. I still haven't recharged it. I've never hard to restart it, so I don't know how long it takes to start up. And, I have a MIDI version of Ciara's Goodies set as my ringtone.

So I'm planning on buying an iPhone soon, but I'm seriously torn. I hear all these rumors about an iPhone nano coming out soon-ish and I'm not sure I should wait. I've also heard about something big going down on 9/5.

Mmm... calamari. Dammit.
