Working with customer’s solutions, we often have to track down potential performance issues or uncover areas for improvement. One of the techniques is to try and measure the relative performance gained using the different configurations

re: Isolating Performance with Precompiled/Pre-generated Views in the Entity Framework 4

Sorry Javier, I just know that to be a limitation.

This is a nice article!!!!

But, I have a problem...

I want use pre generated view, but in my model i'll create a queryview based entity, is there some way to avoid this error:

Running transformation: The EntitySetMapping in EntityContainerMapping for entity container 'IssuesDBEntities' contains a query view. Query views are not allowed in compile time view generation, so the view for this EntityContainerMapping will not be generated. ????

Thanks.

For the issue that you are pointing out, refer to my other blog blogs.msdn.com/.../solving-the-no-logical-space-left-to-create-more-user-strings-error-and-improving-performance-of-pre-generated-views-in-visual-studio-net4-entity-framework.aspx

It was made taking into account the exact issue you describe.

That was a very useful article, thanks.

Btw, I have a problem, that is somewhat connected.

We develop an application, have 300+ entities and pre-compiled views. The Views.cs is now over 80 MBs and, I think, it causes instability in VS (VS 2008, .NET 3.5, EF 1).

By instability I mean if I generate new model files, after it is done, VS crashes. I could live with that, but the main problem is, sometimes VS crashes after loading the solution or rebuild.

Is it possible, the instability is connected with the size of the Views.cs?

Thank you
